About NGO Darpan

The NGO-DARPAN is a platform that provides space for interface between VOs/NGOs and key Government Ministries / Departments / Government Bodies, to start with. Later it is proposed to cover all Central Ministries / Departments / Government Bodies.

This is a free facility offered by the NITI Aayog in association with National Informatics Centre to bring about greater partnership between government & voluntary sector and foster better transparency, efficiency and accountability.

The NGO-DARPAN started out as an initiative of the Prime Minister’s Office, to create and promote a healthy partnership between VOs/NGOs and the Government of India. The Portal is managed at present by NITI Aayog.

Niti Aayog Registration –

This registration helps the trust to get eligibility for various government schemes for welfare activities. It is mandatory for the NGOs to get registered under Niti Aayog and to get Unique Identity Number before applying for any scheme of government.

Details & Key Benefits of  Niti Aayog Registration are explained below

A trust, society or a Section 8 Company, can apply for Niti Aayog registration with the Niti Aayog Department. After applying, NGO will get Unique Identity Number from Niti Aayog portal. That unique number will be the identity of the NGO for applying Government funding/ Government grants scheme. Upon filing of legit drafted application with all the supporting documents (as required by the law) one can get this registration.

Benefits of Registration under Niti Aayog
  1. It mandatory for all NGO/Society/ Trust to take registration in Niti Aayog before approaching any government department to present their project/ apply for government welfare scheme funding from them.
  2. It is mandatory to get Niti Aayog registration for getting government funding.
  3. It improves the credibility for NGO/Trust/ Society for getting donation from general public also.
  4. NGO Darpan Portal maintains database of Blacklisted NGO’s also.
